JULIE ANDREWS AND EMMA WALTON HAMILTON AT AGE 34
Although child actress Julie Andrews had an early start in front of the cameras, it wasn’t until she started appearing in Broadway musicals, that people sat up and noticed this young, talented girl. She won an Academy Award for her film debut in Mary Poppins, for portraying the title role. Andrews has since become a screen legend with blockbusters to her credit such as The Sound of Music and The Princess Diaries, among many other movies. She was awarded the title of ‘Dame’ by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. When Julie’s daughter, Emma, decided to make a career in movies, she knew she had big shoes to fill. She took on small roles in TV series and movies in the US, but eventually started the Bay Street Theater in New York. She now authors children’s books, and has written about 34 of them.
